Announcing: Artful Summer 2012 – Join Us!

Today I declare 2012 the “Artful Summer” here at the Village Homestead. It’s time to reconnect with everything wonderful about the art world: making and creating art; looking at art in museums and your friends’ homes; learning more about artists you love. I’m going to be doing all of this over the summer, both on my own and with my children, and I invite you to join me. Share with others, learn from others, and take away a piece of artistic magic that you might hold forever.

The rules:

June, July & August are the Artful Summer months. What does art mean to you? What do you want to explore? Is it found in museums, in your backyard, in your neighbor’s living room, in your friend’s studio, at the local school or college… or someplace else? What are you seeing? What are you creating?

At least once a month during June, July & August, post about the art you are seeing and/or making. I’ll give you a special place here on the Village Homestead to link your post. If you don’t have a blog, you can email me your photos & your words and I’ll post it along with mine.

Why do this? To get inspired! I’m passionate about art and I love to share it with my children. This summer I want to make art for our garden with them. I want to continue to fill our home with their creations. I want to visit museums and continue to open their eyes (and mine) to all the wonder of the art world. What are you doing that taps into your artistic creativity? What do you want to do? DO IT! Share it here. Be an inspiration, and find inspiration.

To join, leave a comment below introducing yourself. Don’t forget to link to your blog! On Monday, June 11 I’ll post a page where you can link your posts about your Artful Summer. Anything goes! I’ll also have the instructions for adding the Artful Summer 2012 badge to your own blog or website. If you are tech-savvy enough to grab it now from this post, go for it!

Welcome! Artful Summer 2012 is going to be a lot of fun.
