Here’s a photo of Erika, her son and my two girls last night. Unlike me, Erika loves to dress up and be festive on Halloween. I dressed up as an American Mom. Above we have Queen Titania, queen of the Fairies; Rapunzel (though it was agreed that she looked more like Vermeer’s Girl with a Pearl Earring); a woman from the past – perhaps Mary Poppins, perhaps a Titanic passenger; and a phantom.
This is our first Halloween in this house. I knew we would have a lot of trick or treaters come to the door so I have been stocking up on candy. Good thing I bought as much as I did – I estimate we had about 300 children here. The four streets of our little village were filled with people. I would never have imagined it. It was so nice to see so many kids out having fun.
Earlier in the day we carved our pumpkins and got the costumes ready. Today is “Eat the Candy” day – followed by “Melt down and Tantrum” day tomorrow, I’m sure. At least it only happens once a year.
