At almost 7 and 9 years old, my girls are at an age where they are starting to design and orchestrate their own craft projects. Today they told me they wanted to make a wreath out of origami hearts. ‘A’ and ‘H’ completed this project without much assistance from me – I only helped by assembling the materials and plugging in the glue gun. They gave me a list of needed supplies, and once the project was ready to start, they worked on it by themselves.
They started with several folded origami hearts that they’ve been making this week. I got a styrofoam wreath form and wrapped it in wide ribbon to keep it from shedding.
The girls glued each heart onto the wreath using a hot glue gun. Miraculously, no one was burned (I’ve become a very careful crafter in the past few years. Nothing is worse than glue burns). ‘A’ and ‘H’ worked together to place the hearts and they are so very proud of their work.
This wreath is a perfect Valentine decoration!
