Turning the page

We enjoyed our Thanksgiving yesterday and today we mentally turned the page on the holiday calendar. Out came the winter decorations: snowmen, Santas, trees, shiny glass balls, green garland, and ornaments galore. The girls had a wonderful time unpacking each and every decoration and remembering where it came from. ‘H’ marveled at how much her hand has grown in two years when she held it up to a handprint ornament from 2010.

Today was also “cleaning up day”, one of my favorite days. We have this day every three months or so. Or when ‘A’ and I start to butt heads over the state of organization – or disorganization I should say –  in her bedroom. After all rooms were cleaned, dusted and vacuumed, she said, “Now it’s so clean that I can’t find anything.” REALLY? Please, let me catch my breath.

One last thing – look at this sweet chest that now graces my foyer. It was made by my great grandfather and yesterday was passed on to me by my mother and stepfather. Not a lot is known about it. Maybe it is 100 years old? It looks perfect and I love it.
